Intercultural Community Gardens courtyard greening

was originally the idea of community gardens in the 1970s in New York and was known as the Community Gardens. In Germany, came in late due to the association "International Gardens" from a concept developed in Göttingen, and served the understanding and integration. The concept is based on the idea of communication between migrants Flüchtligen, guest workers and residents to promote integration and to make it possible. Trigger for the dissemination of the intercultural community gardens in Germany were Women from Bosnia, from their homes due to the then war, fled and began again in Germany to maintain gardens.
In Austria there is now more recently Gartenpolylog. It is an association of the idea of trying interkutlurellen community gardens spread. It supports existing projects and which even tried to initiate. Intercultural community gardens to promote a mix of people, or people of different age, sex, origin, social background and horticultural know-how. The communication between the exchange and conservation of crop diversity and the self-introduction-set of each individual the central themes dar. The can work together in the garden seen as a continuous exercise in group dynamics, for joint action promotes addition to the above items, group cohesion and integration. Especially when coming together of people from different cultural background that is important. Above all, people who are marginalized because of their origin in our society to see the possibility in social life. Projects of this kind show that a new definition of integration is necessary and that to the extent that integration of migrant participation in social life means. This is to ensure through exchanges and joint activities. When gardening, the one double effect, because the people meet with different knowledge and different approaches to food, since it is the loss of the known food is an additional complication in another country.
An example of the form of trust establishment through the food shows in the AsywerberInnenheim Greifenstein, where they jointly manage an organic garden. The property includes approximately 18 000m ² and is staffed by about 50 adult AsywerberInnen. The reason is that many mental health problems, some are physically and very few are allowed to work in Austria. In addition to the foreign environment, the stranger is so often the Eating strange. Therefore, this establishes a starting point for a little confidence in the new situation create by giving them grow familiar fruits and vegetables and prepare food to their countries of origin.
gardening is an everyday activity associated. There are already over Austria gardens that can be used for these projects. But in a city like Vienna, where cultivable land are not available in abundance, the creation of such facilities would be desirable. Also worth noting is that this form of gardens often not only organizations but also about self-organization is running. Self-organize to say that a group of autonomous people gets together and independently managed by an institution, in this case a bottom.
are many forms of intercultural community gardens as there as a collaboration with elementary schools, asylum seekers, gardens meet where young and old people, etc.
Another possibility would be to create a community garden in conjunction with a courtyard greening, in Vienna, for example is that of the community support.
What is now grown in an intercultural community garden? This is different depending on the size and circumstances. It can of orchards to a small raised bed, and herb-rich worm. In some cities People also park there to use to sow flowers and thereby to beautify the city. How do such gardens is very different. It can stand behind an organization like the Gartenpolylog or people who already have a garden and do not manage alone. The
Gartenpolylog held once a year, "Network meeting on intercultural community gardens. This year's theme "Intercultural Community Gardens as a green place to learn". The conference provides organizations, teachers and private individuals a platform to network with each other.

to a courtyard planted Opportunities are varied, as well as the effect of the indoor climate that results from it. In Vienna, the courtyard greening is therefore promoted by the Department of Parks and Gardens.
first example of a green to the green wall are described here. For this, Ivy, Virginia Creeper, Schlingknöterich, hydrangea, wisteria or trumpet winds used. This planting has the advantage that it is feasible in a small space and, above all, quickly shows an effect of the fast growth of the plant.
The positive effects are a protective wall in front of the house as hail, the air layer between the wall and leaves the isolated during the winter (only in green plants year-round) and a heat insulation in the summer because water is evaporated by the plant which uses heat and a cooling effect for the wall, and therefore also has the indoor environment. Further drops by the plants, the dust while they create a habitat for many species of insects. In cities where many people live in small spaces different seeds and insects are trafficked to discover niches for themselves again and therefore take advantage of such green areas ideal can.
arise in the normal case, no damage caused by the climbers as they talk to their adhesive organs on the surface of the facade. Problems arise when, for example, cracks or holes exhibits. This damage can cause the plant grows there and damaged the interior of the walls (even ivy drilled through concrete through). In the case that not a green wall is possible as an alternative to a wooden frame can also be used, what the highly entwined vines twine or they can. The auxiliary frame can either loose in the yard or mounted on the front wall.
IGrundsätzlich is to say that all forms of vegetation next to the climate, biodiversity, etc. have a positive impact on people. Man is dependent on the nature, because it also contributes to his mental balance. and that is a factor of in the city often come up short. To expand
planting, depending on space capability, it can also be useful to create a raised bed and make this available to all residents. Raised beds are created for different reasons, one of which is unfavorable conditions for a ground-level flower bed, as can be with a courtyard of the case. But can also wooden or concrete. The containers are then filled with soil and planted vegetables, herbs and fruit. Used as a communal garden and this promotes social interaction and communication between children, young and old people and residents with different cultural background. Around the raised bed around shrubs may additionally be set, which create a habitat for birds and other animals.
As will now create a raised bed?
It is best in a courtyard, although no meadow is available to use a ready-made wooden box. If a lawn is available, can be used for applying for a small area of the border. Here wooden boards are cut to the desired dimensions and cut-outs or hooked into each other man / woman they nailed. In the corner braces are installed, which will support the construction so far, that arise when filled with earth, no bulges. On the inside of the wooden slats, a fine mesh to fence (rabbit grid) drafted to prevent the entry of mice and other small animals. The bed can in theory as long as man / woman will be built in the length, but should have a width of 100-120 cm to exceed it still can work well.

need courtyard planting trees as a court, therefore must be considered before that tree is suitable for the court. Basically, trees have a very positive effect. And as with the green wall evaporates and the tree water, it uses heat and the temperature is lowered and it also serves as a dust filter. He is also a habitat for many animals and insects. In addition, donates his shadow, which makes us a hand in the summer heat bearable, on the other hand, results in the asphalt and house walls not to heat up so much and emit too much heat at night. This is one of the reasons why the tree plays in the urban ecology is a very important role. A not to be underestimated is also the stress-reducing effect on the people and strengthening our health. From a psychological perspective, it has already been known that green plants is just a major contribution to our mental equilibrium. For the tree
election itself, it is important to make some considerations such as what role the tree intended to take, how much space is available to him, as light and water supply is. In the city security is important, so here are mostly selected trees can withstand severe weather and do not break even in the same branches.
summary, it can be said that a landscaping of the courtyards brings far more advantages than disadvantages. On the one hand the precious ecological aspects are important, on the other side of the benefit to man, which makes itself visible in various ways.

keep hedgehogs are often in residential areas because they are mostly on heavily used areas can not support life. They need specific species, natural habitats and anyone can contribute to shape it.

How can I make my garden hedgehog just?
While foraging hedgehogs roam a large area. With wire fences, care should be taken that these do not reach the ground, for Hedgehogs can become entangled in it. Garden walls should also offer opportunities to slip through. It would be ideal to avoid hedges, gardens to be kept separate.
on the use of poison should are also omitted, as pesticides and weed killers kill insects, thus destroying the food base of the hedgehog. Hedges, shrubs, leaves, compost heaps and heaps of stones are ideal for hedgehogs retreats.

Hedgehogs are at risk including through the traffic. They have a relatively large radius of action and to move safely in this, they need interconnected green space. To the interconnectedness of urban green, and thus to assess the potential habitat of the hedgehog call the Wildlife Protection Society of Austria and the Department of Environmental Protection on, to report finds naturbeobachtung.at hedgehog on the website.
On this website are in Austria all reported findings and are in addition to hedgehogs now represent over 80 other species. For each species you will find information, profiles, pictures and distribution maps. There are also references and a supervised exchange of expert information, which offers the possibility to this.

9th Bäuerinnentag

In the course of the seminar "Education in Rural Areas", we visited on 4 March 2009, the event on Topic "Insights - Outlooks, appreciation peasant women working at the University of Agricultural Sciences.
The event was held for the ninth time. Iris Strutzmann DI and DI Andrea Heistinger emceed the evening. The Bäuerinnentag served as a conclusion of a seminar and was thus organized largely by the students of the BOKU and designed.

Conclusion:
It was especially exciting for me personally, different opinions and views heard regarding this issue. The realization that the increasing appreciation of the peasant women working in society, it also ascribes the farmers courage and thus in their Work was reinforced, for me personally a very inspiring experience. after
my opinion, however, must be worked a lot on communication between conventional and organic farming, since many areas of conflict exist which impede mutual support and cooperation significantly.
One of the most important insights for me was that we talk about this issue openly and to feel an enormous motivation, courage and strength on the part of farmers was.

How Much For Hair Coloring At Jcpenny

Hello dear people interested in environmental education!

I'll have some time ago by the "NaturErlenis and rainbow warrior portfolio" told and order them for a few interested parties. Now I want to give you all more information about these folders, because I think that there are two very practical and good working document for environmental educators are interested in working with children and young people.

It is, therefore, two folders, the "Nature Discovery Map" and the "rainbow warrior portfolio". They are to children and young people and to parents and teachers who want to get involved in environmental protection, addressed. There is no need to collect from many different textbooks materials and ideas, as these two folders are packed with instructions to act actively. They are very nice, illustrated with many colorful Zeichnnugen and sketches, the browsing alone has made me feel like the ideas into action to fruition.

Here is information on the content of the folders:

The rainbow warrior Map with its 125 pages exciting environmental action ideas, richly illustrated waits in the handy ring binder to doing funny children and young people. The 4 friends Finn, Frank, Jana and Lennart who want to start an environmental group, will be towed in the first chapter, first the reader through a tense history, during which the reader himself can be defined in terms of numbered sections. After the first obstacle the group formation has been overcome, there're off to adventure environment. The children play environmental detectives, gather information, make reports to the press, they spend just anyway observe a day in the forest to enjoy and animals, they create own natural power systems, and must apply with difficult issues such as money talks and put up with politicians.

contains the colorfully printed in A4 folder created Nature Adventure Map the three top issues "trips into the wilderness," "Play in nature" and "tinkering and building". The first chapter contains a number of topics such as butterfly camps camps or recreational Indians, which make the nature experience exciting and fun. Excursion suggestions, tips for youth groups and conservation activities complement this chapter. The second chapter provides habitats for games organized in and with nature. Here's what has to run around and even touching side, instructions for future workshops and "land art". In the chapter "tinkering and building" provides the solution many practical tips on what can man do in nature and natural materials with good: food, tea, paints, willow weaving, clay building, wind turbines ....

The fleet of presentation folders and child-friendly formulations bring the experience gained through many years of children's and youth work experience of the authors over good and motivated to follow suit and self-development ideas. The folders are of course on 100% recycled paper and the folder is produced without polluting film.

The folders individually cost of 12 €. Both sessions together cost 20 €. From 10 Folders, there is a volume discount.

I can really recommend the sessions. You have to be not necessarily in the environmental field in order to designate the folders. I have ordered from eg mainly personal interest in each one of us but a small child and a creative side ;-)

infected so if someone interested in ordering, here's the address: info@oekojobs.de
I hope I could give you a new idea to work with children and young people in the environmental field and make you want to browse the folders on occasion.
